Every Saturday morning at 7 am, we gather at Ocean View Estates to walk, jog or run the scenic, 5 klm circuit through the vines. A great way to get your weekly fitness fix.
But if you ask each of us what we look forward to the most, we will likely tell you it is the feeling of community that is most important to us.
You can go anywhere in the world, turn up to a parkrun on Saturday morning, and know that you will be welcomed just like an old friend. It really is an amazing phenomenon, and even introverts like me can find a way to emerge from our shells and enjoy some time with friends.
It is the friends we have made through Ocean View parkrun that have made the most positive difference in our lives, and we would love to share that difference with you.
So come along this Saturday or any Saturday. Slip your walking or running shoes on and join us locals and tourists as we enjoy some healthy, happy time in the great outdoors.
And now, the favour.
We need your help.
Every week, this event is made possible by the local volunteers who offer an hour or two of their time to ensure parkrun goes ahead. Without these people, there will be no Ocean View parkrun, and that would be a tragedy, particularly to those of us who have benefitted so much from it.
So please, consider helping out for one parkrun, or three, or every week. Whatever you can manage.
I guarantee you will come away from it with new friends and a new appreciation of our fantastic local community.
