As many know, I am a Man-Made Global Warming Skeptic. Hence, I measure a lot of things, including CO2. Over the years, I have evaluated a few different sensors and keep returning to the uRADMonitor configuration. I was one of the first sponsors for this development and I am not disappointed. What Is the URADMonitors?

The URADMonitor is a cutting-edge environmental monitor equipped with an array of sensors that measure key atmospheric and environmental parameters. From temperature and humidity to particulate matter and carbon dioxide levels, the A4 delivers precise, reliable data, making it a valuable tool for weather enthusiasts, researchers, and everyday users alike.

Here’s a closer look at its sensors and how they work:

Geiger-Müller Tube

  • Measures: Ionizing radiation (gamma and beta radiation).
  • Range: Detects changes in radiation levels in the environment.
  • Use: Monitors radiation safety, particularly relevant in areas affected by natural or human-made radiation sources.

Temperature Sensor

  • Measures: Ambient temperature.
  • Range: -20°C to +65°C.
  • Use: Tracks temperature fluctuations, essential for understanding weather patterns and predicting heat waves or cold spells.

Humidity Sensor

  • Measures: Relative humidity.
  • Range: 0% to 100% RH.
  • Use: Helps predict precipitation, fog, and dew formation, critical for agriculture and daily planning.

Laser Scattering Particulate Matter Sensors

  • Measures:
    • PM1.0, PM2.5, PM10: Particulate matter sizes in the air.
  • Range: 0 to 1000 µg/m³.
  • Use: Tracks air quality, particularly during bushfires or high-pollution periods, linked to health and environmental concerns.

Nitrogen Dioxide (NO₂) Sensor

  • Measures: Nitrogen dioxide levels.
  • Range: 0 ppm to 10 ppm.
  • Use: Indicates urban pollution levels and helps understand its impact on air quality and health.

Electrochemical Formaldehyde (HCHO) Sensor

  • Measures: Formaldehyde gas concentration.
  • Range: 0 ppm to 5 ppm.
  • Use: Assess indoor air quality, particularly in areas with new furniture, paint, or industrial emissions.

Electrochemical Ozone (O₃) Sensor

  • Measures: Ozone levels.
  • Range: 0 ppm to 10 ppm.
  • Use: Tracks surface ozone, which impacts health and vegetation and is related to pollution and sunny weather.

Electrochemical Carbon Monoxide (CO) Sensor

  • Measures: Carbon monoxide concentration.
  • Range: 0 ppm to 500 ppm.
  • Use: Monitors harmful gas exposure from fires, heaters, or engines, ensuring safety indoors and outdoors.

Carbon Dioxide (CO₂) Sensor

  • Measures: Carbon dioxide levels.
  • Range: 400 ppm to 5000 ppm.
  • Use: Tracks CO₂ for indoor air quality, urban heat island effects, and plant respiration studies.

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) Sensor

  • Measures: A variety of VOCs.
