About the Gann Commodity Forecast Method

This market intelligence report employs the analytical methods developed by W.D. Gann (1878-1955), one of the most influential technical analysts in trading history. Gann spent over 35 years studying market behaviour and believed that markets follow natural mathematical and cyclical laws that, when properly understood, can forecast future price movements.

Time Cycles: The Foundation of Gann Analysis

At the heart of this analysis are Gann’s time cycles, which identify recurring patterns across multiple timeframes. Our system monitors daily cycles (7, 14, 28, 30, 45, 60, 90, 144, 180, 360 days), weekly cycles (13, 26, 52 weeks), monthly cycles (6, 9, 12, 18, 24, 36 months), and longer-term cycles spanning years (including the significant 7-year Biblical cycle, 10-year decennial cycle, 18-year Saros eclipse cycle, 20-year Jupiter-Saturn conjunction, and the 60-year grand cycle). When multiple cycles converge at the same point in time, they signal potential market turning points with higher probability.

The Square of Nine and Price Geometry

Gann believed that price and time were interchangeable and could be measured geometrically. The “Square of Nine” is a spiral chart that calculates support and resistance levels based on mathematical relationships. Our analysis applies these geometric principles to identify key price levels where markets are likely to encounter resistance (during advances) or find support (during declines). These levels are derived from squaring significant historical prices and projecting natural mathematical divisions (quarters, thirds, halves) of previous price ranges.

Planetary Aspects and Natural Law

Following Gann’s belief that markets reflect natural cycles, this forecast incorporates planetary aspects—the angular relationships between celestial bodies. Conjunctions (0°), oppositions (180°), squares (90°), trines (120°), and sextiles (60°) between planets such as Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, and Venus are monitored for their correlation with market reversals. Particular attention is given to Jupiter-Saturn aspects (primary economic cycles) and eclipse periods, which Gann considered significant market timing indicators.

Interpreting the Forecast

Each turn window in this report represents a period during which multiple Gann factors converge, increasing the probability of a trend change or acceleration. The confluence score combines time cycle alignments, price geometry (Gann angles), Square of Nine levels, and planetary aspects into a single measure. Higher scores indicate stronger confluence and greater significance. These forecasts are intended as analytical tools for informed decision-making, not as trading recommendations—markets remain influenced by many factors beyond cyclical analysis.

Purpose

Gives everyday Australians a quick evening briefing on:

  • What’s happening with grocery prices locally
  • How global commodity markets are trending (which eventually affects local prices)

It’s practical market intelligence for household budgeting and planning – not financial advice.

Hence, you should never use this information other than for educational purposes.
