This privacy policy covers dayboro.au, app.dayboro.au, and the Dayboro Buddy app on Google Play and the App Store. All three are operated by Dutch Digital Dynamics Pty Ltd (ABN 86 081 237 087), based in Dayboro, Queensland.

Plain English version: we collect the minimum we need to run the service, we don’t sell your data, and we don’t share it except where the law requires or where a third-party service we use needs it to function.

What we collect and why

If you visit without an account

We collect standard web server logs — your IP address, the pages you visit, your browser type, and when you visited. This is automatic and happens on every website you visit. We use it to understand how the site is used and to diagnose problems.

We also use Koko Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics tool. It counts page views and visitor numbers without tracking individual users or using cookies.

If you create an account

When you register, we collect your email address and a display name. That’s it. We use your email to:

  • Send you the weather reports you signed up for
  • Let you log in to the site and app
  • Send important account or service notifications

We don’t ask for your address, phone number, date of birth, or any other personal details unless you choose to add them to your profile.

If you become a paid member

Paid memberships (Weather Reports at $3.95/month, Weather API at $60/month) are processed by Stripe. When you pay, Stripe collects and stores your payment card details. We never see or store your full card number — only the last four digits and card type, which Stripe gives us for your records.

We store your membership level, payment history, and subscription status in our database to manage your account.

The Dayboro Buddy app

The app uses the same account system as the website. It does not collect your device’s GPS location — it uses weather data from our fixed station at Lyndhurst Hill, Dayboro. It does not run crash analytics or send usage data to third parties.

If you allow push notifications, your device’s push token is stored on our server so we can send you lightning alerts and weather warnings. You can turn notifications off in your device settings at any time.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t sell your data to anyone.
  • We don’t use your data for advertising targeting.
  • We don’t track you across other websites.
  • We don’t use Facebook Pixel, Google Analytics, or similar tracking tools.
  • We don’t share your email with third parties for their marketing.

Cookies

The website uses one cookie to keep you logged in between visits. That’s it. No advertising cookies, no tracking cookies, no third-party cookies from ad networks.

Third-party services we use

Running a website means using a few external services. Here’s what touches your data:

Service What it does Their privacy policy
Stripe Processes paid membership payments stripe.com/au/privacy
PayPal Optional payment method for memberships paypal.com/au/legalhub/privacy-full
Hosting (cPanel) Stores the website files and database on servers in Australia
Google Play / Apple App Store Distributes the Dayboro Buddy app Subject to their own policies

How long we keep your data

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal details within 30 days. Payment records are kept for 7 years as required by Australian tax law.

Server logs are kept for 90 days, then deleted automatically.

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct any information that is wrong
  • Delete your account and personal data
  • Complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you’re not happy with how we’ve handled your data

To exercise any of these rights, email us at contact@dayboro.au. We’ll respond within 30 days.

Children

Our services are not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we’ll remove it promptly.

Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe and PayPal — we never touch your card details.

No system is completely secure. If we become aware of a data breach that affects you, we’ll notify you promptly as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes, we’ll post a notice on the website and update the “last updated” date at the top of this page. Continuing to use our services after a change means you accept the updated policy.
