Updates to the site
Over time some erros slipped in and as per usual these need to be fixed. As I was ploughing through the code, we had a nice big thunderstorm coming through which blew the Air sensors right out of the air.
A quick call to my mates in romania and a new one was send up… but lets go through what whas updated.
Dayboro Lions Business Directory.
The dayboro lions business directory, for quite a few years now the RDS.INK and myself support the lions by putting the paper based version online as part of this website.
It now has:
- Updated business listings.
- Listing upate request, incase I got it wrong.
- Real time opening hours and emergency contacts.
- Whole new layout to make it easier. (all custom code).
- Updated Dayboro Buddy, with the latest data, this has all click to dial, emergency numbers and map views.
Daily Weather Essentials
We are all busy, I get that, hence the introduction of the email service. Over time I will be creating unique emails you can subscribe to to get the information you want in your email box. I will be adding SMS later next year, just working out the costs for that.
Our main email that is subscribe to is the Daily Weather Essentials, and I keep expanding on that content.
- Last 24hrs versus Historical.
- Rainfall (today, week, month, year).
- Wind and fire. FFDI and the BOM official Fire danger ratings.
- Air Quality, the CO2, CO, SO2, O2, CH2O, Background radiation, particles etc etc.
- Health advice based upon the Air Quality.
- Lightning counts.
- 7 Day detailed weather forecast.
All emails are personalised this means you can click on links and you are automatically logged in to view the details online.
Evening Market Intelligence
I like to grow my own food, some years it works some years it does not. That said I like to know if there is a financial benefit in it. So I created the Eveneing Market Intelligence report.
Evening Market Intelligence lands at 6:00 pm with a clear snapshot of local produce prices across major retailers (Woolworths, Coles, ALDI and local stores), “best buy” highlights, an at-a-glance average price board for staples, and a simple global commodity watch (coffee, rice, wheat) so you can understand tomorrow’s price pressure.
It also includes a quick weather/garden context to help Dayboro households, growers and small producers plan shopping, preserving and harvest decisions.
- Shop smarter tonight: live local produce prices + “best buys” you can act on tomorrow.
- Know the baseline: average price board for common veg so deals actually stand out.
- Global → local context: simple commodity watch with “why it matters” notes.
- Useful at 6 pm: timed for meal planning, shopping runs and next-day budgets.
Vegetable Growing Guide
I forget things, darn most of the times I do not even know what day of the week it is. The brain was a bit knocked around and at times I struggle with things. Got reports and doc cert to proof it :-).
So I need help where I can get it, for that reason the What To Plant Today in Dayboro is build, still in progress but most is there.
I am still working on the Garden Buddy, this will be an extention to the dayborobuddy.com. The idea is that subscribers can log, track and manage their vegetable garden from their mobile device. This of course linked to the local weather. It will check short, medium and long term conditions and advices in advance what to do. Basically have your local backyard grower in your pocket. So stay tuned on that.
2026 Dayboro Farmers Almanac
I wrote a farmers almanac for 2024, but due to health reasons I did not get around to write one for 2025.
I base the almanac on Inigo Jones and other methods. Some say it is woowoo, yet when challenged they do get stuck in finding issues with it. You most likely seen the odd Fakebook post wher some have a go at my weather predictions. Which is fine… I seen and heard it all in my 30plus years of messing around with weather and climate data.
It is all cycles, not CO2. History shows it, most scientist agree that current temps are not unusual if you look beyond the very very small data set currently used by the IPCC.
So the farmers almanac has been around for over 100yrs in the USA. I recently got contacted by the autors of the published USA Farmers Almanac to help them with forecasts and join them, unfortunatelly health will not allow that.
That said I just keep mumbling away and will create one for the Dayboro Area again. I hope to have the January one finished this week and then when time and headaches permitting the rest should follow in the next month.
