This community event is part of the Richmond Birdwing Butterfly Nature Oasis project , an citizen conservation initiative restoring habitat for native wildlife and strengthening ecological connectivity in the Samford region. The session will begin with a short introduction to the Richmond birdwing butterfly , one of Australia’s most spectacular yet threatened butterflies. Once common across South East Queensland, this species has declined significantly due to habitat loss and fragmentation.
